About

Founded in 2015, The Design Futures Initiative was launched to create a platform to share work and methodologies. Since its inception, the initiative has welcomed thousands of members worldwide, hosted hundreds of events, and workshops, and organized 3 conferences. Speculative Futures chapters exist in over 12 countries and are growing every day.

The Design Futures Initiative connects designers, strategists, engineers, scientists, artists and futurists from around the world. The initiative’s mission is to bring people together to help imagine a better place to live.  

Local Leaders

JEFF BRICE

Jeff is the former Chair of Design at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA where he organized a variety of exhibitions, speakers, and community building events. While instituting a new curriculum for the Design department he developed 3 Liberating Structures workshops for faculty and students.  Jeff recently move to Louisville to take on the role of Chair of Visualization at KyCAD. He is currently developing new curriculum and organizing partnerships and events for the school.

MATT DOBSON

Matt is a designer and Innovation Specialist at 18F, where he works to improve the user experience of government. Prior to joining 18F he was product designer at Humana’s Digital Experience Center, an art director at Power, published a magazine, and co-produced a late-night variety show at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

In addition to his ‘day jobs’ Matt has been a long time organizer of local design groups. He was on the board of the Louisville Graphic Design Association (now a part of the AIGA) for years, and is currently one of the local leaders for Louisville’s IxDA chapter.
